Welcome to Behavior Intervention Resources. This site is to help teachers help their students who display particularly challenging behaviors. Effective classroom management means teachers communicate clear expectations and follow through consistently with their classroom management plan. Around 5% of our students' behavior will not improve, even when we are firm and consistent. If we want to see results for these students, we need to use a different approach.
This site provides planning resources for effectively implementing two behavior intervention models: Problem Solving Conferences (Responsive Classroom) and Collaborative Problem Solving (Ross Greene). It also provides resources for building relationships with students (a prerequisite to both approaches), using effective teacher language, and writing and implementing an effective Behavior Contract.
Students with extreme behavior challenges can frustrate and exhaust teachers, despite our best intentions. The research-based methods on this site work. The templates will help you plan an approach that will help you, and your students with the most behavior challenges, succeed.
